Since 2017, Côte d'Ivoire has been implementing its 2016-2025 Ten-Year Education/Training Sector Plan, the ambition of which is to "provide Côte d'Ivoire with quality and productive human resources through quality, equitable and inclusive education that is in line with the needs of the labour market".

The mid-term evaluation has certainly highlighted successes (access to education, keeping children in school, etc.) but also challenges that need to be addressed, such as gender inequalities that are likely to increase with Covid 19, the inclusion of children outside the school system, the establishment of inclusive infrastructures, violence against pupils, the low level of acquisition of pupils, etc.).

Civil society, whose role in the success of education policies is recognised by all, must be given the means to influence all processes initiated by the government. This is why the Global Partnership for Education has been supporting civil society since 2009 to enable it to take part in and influence all educational debates and processes.

This project, whose overall objective is to contribute to making the education system more inclusive, accessible, efficient and protective of students, will serve to consolidate the achievements of the EFA-RIP during the period 2020-2021. This overall objective is broken down into three specific objectives:

1. Strengthen the EFA-PIN in order to influence the process of developing programmes/projects with a view to taking greater account of vulnerable children in the National Education and Literacy sub-sector. Through a series of activities, the aim is to make RIP-EFA even more inclusive, more present throughout the national territory and more competent in order to contribute to the adoption of the inclusive school programme and the ICT in Education policy with a view to increasing the enrolment of disabled/disadvantaged children.
2. Strengthen the influence of the RIP-EFA in the implementation of the PES 2016-2025 in order to promote a positive evolution of indicators related to quality and access. Through monitoring activities, advocacy and awareness campaigns, the EFA-PIR will influence the implementation of the PES 2016-2025 in order to contribute to the reduction of exclusion and repetition rates and to the increase of enrolment rates in the National Education and Literacy sub-sector.
3. Consolidate learning collaboratives bringing together national coalitions or international networks to monitor the implementation of national plans, the MDG4 and the Education 2030 framework.

EFA-PIR will capitalise on the achievements of this project to continue to participate in exchange and learning forums with other national, continental and global organisations and to collaborate with a recipient organisation of OC2 funds to monitor the implementation of national plans, the SDG4 and the Education 2030 framework.

The first phase of the project was implemented in 2020-2021 with support from Education Out Loud of 291.894 USD.
